I traveled to Atlanta to check out the last stop on Nao’s tour and I AM SHOOK. The line outside wasn’t long. Also, of note, is that the Masquerade recently left their last location and moved into their Underground Atlanta space (underground like…. the mall). I purchased the balcony seats (ever since Keenan showed me the upgrade life at The Internet concert, I’ve been a changed gal). Needless to say, I had an easy time getting in and I arrived early enough to get a great standing spot.

Xavier Omar opened for Nao and I’ve been a supporter of his music for like two years or so? The time escapes me but it was around the time I listened to SPZRKT (fun fact: this was XO’s name before he switched), DVSN, JMSN, etc etc. you get it. Afraid is one of my alarms so I hear Xavier daily. Daily. I recorded a few of the songs but honestly, I was feeling the entire concert. Omar performed crowd favorites like “Blind Man”, “If This is Love”, “How Do You Love Me”, and “Afraid”.

Nao opened to “Another Lifetime” in the crowd. I heard the music and saw the musicians playing and then bloop! there she was below me just singing on a platform. The concert was futuristic meets free spirited. Nao’s harem pants and her light voice made me float the entire night.  She revealed that it was her last stop on The Saturn Tour and I felt gratitude. I drove 6.5 ish hours and felt peace and happiness.

Kind of sad but you remind me, you remind me of a love that I once knew
Kind of sad but you remind me, you remind me of a love who outgrew me too

When she sang Orbit the crowd, comprised largely of women, crooned and melted. It was one of those moments where you feel your past traumas and hearbreaks leaving. It was cathartic and I’d go back to that moment again and again, if I could. My concert neighbor and I screamed to the top of our lungs with the other women in the venue. Bad Blood was a hit amongst the crowd also. Note: The only other moment that sparked that much of a unified singalong in the venue was SZA’s Love Galore that played in the beginning of the show.
